Eating Plants

no more chocolate, no more cheese
eating plants should be a breeze,

if I just eat enough to fill
this body tired of being ill,

with lots of whole grains, veggies too
fruits... well that's it, it'll have to do,

for no more cheese and no more meat
butter, bacon or ice cream treat,

no more eggs or pancake batter
not into oil, no frying spatter,

for all my arteries have had their day
of fatty foods and DNA,

these genes of mine they need a boost
for cholesterol did come to roost,

and take up space where blood would flow
not a good thing, dontcha know?

no drug, treatment or doc can fix
so I'll try diet and foods I'll mix,

cooking this and baking that
opening arteries, burning fat,

burning fat, what's that you say?
I might lose weight, I may, I may?

Now that's a bonus and a prize
it might just keep me energized,

motivated, inspired too
to live without chocolate, boo hoo hoo,

so wish me luck and wish me well
success or failure I will tell,

I'll find a way to make it tasty
and not just dull and drab and pasty,

even though I'll miss the candy
cake and pie and food that's handy,

even though I might just cry
and grieve for cheese on Shepherd's Pie,

I'll learn new ways to cook, I will
So I can live and love, still,
